The introduction of ERP, factory planning solutions and tourist interaction within production and leisure environments is now driving the need for high performance wi-fi wireless. With many devices such as touch-screens, scanners, scales and smartphones now being equipped with wireless connectivity, the demand for hard-wiring can be greatly reduced. Wi-Fi connection is so much easier to integrate, but, and it’s a big but, without a highly tuned wireless network, your devices will suffer from drop-outs and false positives causing untold problems within your accounting, stock control systems or information on the move.
Our Wi-Fi survey service will ensure that your access points (APs) are placed in the most optimal locations and that other radio emitters, or obstructions such as walls, machines or even moving stock will have no detrimental effect on your wireless network. We specialise in all forms of installations including discrete systems for stately homes for example.
We can arrange for passive or active surveys, one is great for searching for rouge devices, interference or for initial surveys while the other is used a lot for new in-depth wireless planning, design and implementation.
In conjunction with our highly experienced technology partner we offer a full RF (Wi-Fi) consultancy and advice service. This includes full RF both indoor and outdoor surveys of your facility in order to ascertain the optimal installation and therefore the lowest cost. If you are considering installing an RF network in your plant, warehouse or office, a survey can ensure perfect coverage with the lowest outlay. We can help you avoid issues such as dead spots, machine interference and weak signals caused by liquids and other items that may be in storage with a choice of survey type.
1. Wi-Fi Health Check:
We run detailed analysis of the entire wireless network within your building and record all data. We then supply you with a comprehensive report including details of findings and a proposition for the best solution to any problems we find.
2. Passive Survey:
A passive Wi-Fi Site Survey is conducted using a mobile access point mounted on a tripod – A range of dual band antennas can be used at the discretion of the engineer depending on the requirements of the environment. The access point is powered by a 12V mobile battery pack so the mobile access point and associated antennas can be deployed in strategic locations throughout the site using their own power.
The Wi-Fi site survey is then conducted on a laptop using specialist software called Tamograph. This software requires floor plans to be imported and scaled. The engineer then walks the coverage footprint of the survey access point, clicking on the floor plan at regular intervals. The Tamograph software automatically captures Wi-Fi readings on each click.
When the survey is complete the information captured by Tamograph enables it to generate a series of visualisations. These are more commonly known as ‘heat maps’ and use different colours to represent the strength of signal. These results can then go on to enable the network to be created using only best quality cabling and antennas’
3. Active & Predictive Configuration & Commissioning:
This is a service we provide once the hardware and data cabling has already been deployed based on the recommendations in our WiFi Site Survey Report.
The access points can optionally be pre configured with the customers’ network addresses prior to shipment and when configuration is complete, our partners will fully commission the Wi-Fi network to verify connectivity of devices in each of the required WI-Fi reception areas throughout the site.
Heat maps will be provided showing the quality of signal throughout the site and engineers will further configure the Wi-Fi access points on site based on ‘best practice’ guidelines to optimise performance of the Wi-Fi network. This includes radio channel planning to minimise ‘Co-Channel Interference’. Engineers are able to offer advice on how best to configure the Wi-Fi installation to maximise performance in the 5 GHz Wi-Fi frequency band leaving the lower bandwidth 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi frequency band free for connection of legacy devices.
Finally, a detailed Wi-Fi Configuration & Commissioning report will be compiled detailing the Wi-Fi configuration settings. This will include all relevant information to enable to Wi-Fi installation to be fully supported. M0re wireless info can be found here. For a sample report please contact Us.
